How long does it take to get bleached, fried hair back to normal?

About a year ago, this horrible hairdresser bleached my hair (I asked for highlights, assuming he wouldn't use bleach). My hair is shoulder length and a good three inches are still split and look like hay. How much longer will it take for my hair to reach a healthy state?

Get a cut which removes the dead inches. It'll be painful maybe, specially as it's not your fault, but that is really the only way it'll go away fast. Everyone's hair grows different but you'll be months to completely grow it out otherwise.

ur hair will never get healthy as long as u have the split ends. u will need to trim or cut the split ends then condition ur hair so it can return to a healthy natural state. u must get rid of the split ends. as time goes on they will continue to split and ur hair will get shorter and shorter. make an appointment for a consultation with a local stylist. good luck!

On average hair grows about 1/4 inch per month. There is some variability there. If you want to keep the same length, it will take roughly 9 months. To do it quicker you will have to live with shorter hair for a while.

As a former hairstylist and colorist I can tell you that hair growth is, at an average, 1/4 inch per month give or take. In the summer months hair grows a bit faster. Depending on your hairstyle and preferred length it could take up to a year or more to get back to your natural color. I know that sounds hopeless but there is little chance of anything reviving your "fried hair" because it will break at its weakest point anyway. Because of this your hair is already layered, but not properly. Heavy conditioning will not help the damaged portion and will only weigh down the good that is left. That does not mean for you not to condition at all. Use a product like Paul Mitchell Humectress in order to condition properly. My recommendation is to get it cut as short as you are comfortable with then, and this is only if you really MUST, use a non-ammonia or non-peroxide product such as L'Oreal Preference or Excellence and choose a color that suits you. I wish you good luck!

I highlighted my hair last september and am finally having my natural hair color all around and yes, it destryoed my hair, no way to fix that.
