Ive been bleaching and dying sections of my hair for around 10 years now and have always been very careful - my hair looks healthy and shiny and ive never had any problems until today.
This morning i rebleached sections of my waist length hair and when i rinsed the bleach off i found my hair to feel very soapy even after 3 shampoos and then noticed it was like fine jewellery elastic and is now snapping off at eye level.
My hair is my pride and joy and im really panicking! Any advice from hairdressers would be good - im currently sitting here with a conditioning treatment and a shower cap on to try and help it.

Hair Like Elastic Breaking Off Mid Length Due To Botched Bleach Job HELP!!!!?
What probably happened to cause the breakage is an overlap in bleach (new bleach application over previously bleached hair). I'm sorry to say, you will probably have to get those areas cut, but if you want to try to salvage some of it (and strengthen to rest of you hair as well), definitely look for a protein treatment. Redken's Extreme line of shampoos, conditioners, and treatments are my favorites, but if they are out of your price range, just look for products that claim to be strengthening or say they have protein. Moisturizing products at this point may do more harm than good, and can cause your hair to stretch and break more. If all else fails, you can have some face framing layers put in, and providing the rest of your hair is relatively undamaged, manage to keep your length. Good luck!
***Since you've updated, here's a few more suggestions, but it's really hard to give you help without seeing you in person***
Joico K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor is supposedly the strongest treatment you can buy. I also have had good results with Redken Chemistry Treatments, which are performed in the salon. I would also recommend Redken Anti-Snap as a daily leave in, and heat styling is not recommended. Maybe a little wax or serum applied after hair has air dried would help to tame the waviness of the weakened pieces. But for best results, you really should make an appointment with a stylist. Upon seeing you, they will be able to tell you if your hair can be saved, and if not, come up with a style leaving you with as much length as possible. I'm sorry I can't help you any more than that, but as a stylist, it's nearly impossible to give information over the internet without seeing what you are dealing with up close.

If your hair is really down to your waist, you need to trim it. Bleaching that much of your hair isn't that good. I would reccomend giving your hair a good trim, probably up to your chin, and then use a hot oil treatment, like V05. Wash it out, make sure you condition, and then put in a leave-in conditioner.. I'm sorry that this has happened.

Don't listen to the people saying you need to cut your hair if its down to your waist. I actually have hair down to the small of my back and like you, my hair is honestly my pride and joy. However, unlike you I dont bleach my hair....I colour it a red/violet. In any case, when I was blonde, I would ALWAYS use a protein based shampoo and conditioner. The reason your hair is breaking is becuase when you bleach your hair you remove the proteins and ceramides from it - making your hair weak and not strong. Try Biologe fortifying shampoo and conditioner...I put the link below.
You may also want to consider using a good leave in conditioner. Try this product it fixes EVERYTHING......Its called "It's a 10"
1.) Repairs dry damaged hair
2.) Adds shine
3.) Smoothes %26amp; controls frizz
4.) Seals %26amp; protects hair color
5.) Detangles
6.) Prevents split ends
7.) Stops hair breakage
8.) Creates Silkiness
9.) Enhances natural body
10.) Flat iron spray %26amp; thermal protector
A little pricey, but worth it!!!!
