Is it safe to use ceramic straighteners on my 9 yr old daughters hair?

My daughter has wild bushy wavy hair that she hates and always has tied up. I straightened her hair for her birthday party and she loved it so much she wants to keep it straight. I told not all the time as I am not sure this can damage her hair with her being so young.

I straighten mine all the time and my hair stays shiny and healthy, but not sure about her's.

Can anyone advise how safe/dangerous this is for her hair??

You can use hairstraightners on her hair, I'd recommend a relaxing shampoo and conditoner first such as L'anza Strait Line to relax the hair by up to 30% then I'd use the L'anza heat protector to keep it from damaging the hair, then pop some serum on it for silky locks all day long!

I wouldn't do it all the time, maybe once a week, but making sure she brushes it often before washing to get all the oils flowing through to the ends and make sure she has good conditioner. Maybe your daughter doesn't need to grow up so quickly and worry about such things just yet?

i straighten my 7 year old daughters hair but onlt occasionally.

it will damage her young hair if done all the time.

but some of that spray that u put on beofre straightening to protect the hair.

As long as you use a heat protector product on her hair before you straighten, it should protect the hair fine. As long as you're not holding the irons' on for too long, there will be no long term damage.

If she's anything like my neice, she'll get bored of going through it after a while, and then want to stay natural!

Well, ceramic straighteners work good and heat evenly and keep your hair shiny. I guess it would be ok, just a long as you don't straighten her hair like every day. It may also help if u by shampoos and conditioners for your daughters type of hair. It may make it more manageable. It's just a thought though.

take your daughter to a pro. maybe someone you have gone to for years, they will give you advice. I have found that John Freida products work well, All you have to do is put it in your hair and blow dry straight, which you have to do anyway. Try the straightening shampoos and conditioners.

People with straight hair want curls, curls want straight.Hopefully she will eventually learn to like her own hair without all the processing.

can veronica A tell us why her aunt took her little niece to the doctor to find out how often you can straighten an 8 year olds hair. does the doctor work 2 part time jobs 1 as a doctor and the other as a hairdresser. or can you get a cut and blow dry while you pick up your prescription at the local practise.
