What are some at home remedies for damaged hair?

My hair gets damaged a lot from blow drying, straightening and coloring. I've been stopping all that, and I'm getting it trimmed tomorrow. Saying bye to all the dead stuff.

I'm currently on a budget though and I want to make sure my hair stays healthy. What are some home remedies to keep my hair healthy? I'm also trying to grow it out long so I need it to be healthy for that. What are some things I can find around the house that will help?

Thanks so much!

olive oil treatment once a week :)

heat up olive oil in the microwave until it's hot but touchable. soak your tips and massage into hair working it up to almost your roots. put a shower cap on and wrap your head in a hot towel. leave on for at east 20mins but up to 6hrs or over night. when you shower be sure to wash all your hair not just your scalp. don't double wash! this will dry your hair and make the treatment pointless. your hair may be a tiny bit greasier the day but the next shower will make your hair normal again (but softer).

also, when you shower leave your conditioner in for 3mins before rinsing out. give it more time to soak in and do it's job.

Have you eve head the avocado conditioner....You take the avocado and put it in your hair for at least 30 minutes and then rinse with lots of water and and try to use the Dove shampoo and use the Dove conditioner and you will see that your hair will change just give it some time...

If your hair is dyed, don't use hot oil treatments. They will fade your color.

Put olive oil on your hair at night, wrap it in a shower cap or plastic wrap, and sleep on it. Avocadoes and olive oil are both excellent conditioners. I like to mix them together to make a thin paste, then apply all over my head. Then I put a shower cap on, and wrap a warm towel around my head and leave it on for about 30 minutes.

Here are some cheap ideas, as well:

Queen Helene's cholesterol deep conditioning treatment; use it every other week (about $3 at Sally's Beauty Supply, and it lasts for months)

Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioner (about $1.50 each at Wal-Mart and other such stores)

Suave Heat Protecting spray (this will protect your hair from further damage caused by heat styling)
