What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

my best friend's natural hair colour is dirty blonde, last year she got blonde streaks, when she was super girly.

this year she went scene and dyed her hair black, and today she bleached her hair platinum blonde.

she straightens it sometimes, and uses products.

is that healthy for you hair and should you do that to your hair if you're only 13?

Sure I don't see a problem with it, it's a way of creative expression as I see it.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

sure, why not?

if she is sure to colour it later on, why not start now?

Nope, your hair will end up damaged and dry at such a young age. You should do it when you have money/maybe a job so you can buy hair products that can take care of your hair, and shampoos and conditoners for long lasting color.

to be honest, I think 13 is a little young to be doing that to all of her hair at such a young age. I can see getting streaks that young but not bleaching it and dying it so much. I couldn't dye my hair until I turned 15.

doesn't rub me the wrong way

Coloring your hair damages it, but it grows back out. I am a believer in liking yourself the way you are.

Does anything toxic leak into your skull? Nobody really knows.

At 13, it is the parent's call.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

doing all that is not healthy for even 18 year old gal leave alone 13. i wonder what she'll do at age 20, go bold or have rainbow on her head? advice her to go easy and slow. she has many years ahead of her to do all that.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

you can start dying your hair at 21, before that it is illegal to dye your hair with out the consent of congress

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

I'd say around 60, unless it gets too much gray in it first.

.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

NO it is not healthy what-so-ever. If you use the best products out there, it will not make any difference. In my opinion, it is not appropriate for little girls dying their hair. Only highlights should be appropriate because 13 is too young to be dying your hair at that age.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

Its not healthy at all. The second you start using a lot of products, you'll start getting build up on your hair and it'll usually dry it out (a lot of products for your hair contains alcohol) and cause split ends. The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut and grow out your hair.

Dying your hair just weakens and thins out your hair. Especially if you do it often. :)

13 is a little young for the permanent stuff, but you can buy some cools temporary products from Sallys that last for a week or so. That's a better choice for a teenager, since what you like changes from day to day.

Have fun, its your hair!

13 sounds a little young. One of my best friends Kelly in high school was constantly changing her hair colors and styles all the way through high school. So I would say about your freshman year in high school would be more appropriate but this generation starts doing things sooner than we did almost all the way across the board. As far as damaging her hair. It sounds like she is giving her hair plenty of time to over come the shock of the prior change.

oversyling hair is bad at any age. However my ma let me start coloring my hair at 13 and havent had it the natural color since then.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

Color damages your hair making it gray faster; however, my opinion is that if you can afford over $100 plus every six weeks than by all means go ahead but keeping it maintained can be pretty expensive.

I wish I would have kept my natural color so I could keep that $200 dollars ever six weeks in my bank account.

10+ highlights

14+ dyes

umm i started with pink streaks at 7... but my mom is kewl with it because shes a hair dresser so i say dyed hair is fine u should see my hair.. black/brown on bottom but really blonde

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

yeah, i mean i dye my hair about twice a year since i was like in 5th grade, like 11 and i curl my hair and stuff, and i dont have much damage, surprising i know...

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

Its not healthy for your hair, but a LOT of 13 year olds do waaaayy more than that. And some ppl have faux hair but u dont even realize until they actually tell you and they would get there hair bleached/dyed monthly. it might just seem weird because its BIG changes, not like subtle highlites that u might not notice.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

If she keeps it up, her hair will be fried in no time. No, it's not healthy for hair if done excessively over a long period of time. There's no particular age to begin dying your hair, just tell her not to get too carried away with it, as it can be damaging.

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

It's not a matter of how old you are, it's if you feel that you're ready. Dying you're hair is like getting a piercing, you should put some thought into it. It can have long term effects, like too much permament dying can cause your hair to become dry and brittle [fried] as you get older. I dye my hair quite a bit, but in moderation. For you're friend, it's ok to change colors, but when her roots grow out, she should just color the roots, not re-dye her whole head. That can not only dry out her hair, but she'll have mismatched colors. As for changing colors, she shouldn't dye her more than twice in three months. Hope I helped :]

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

thats definitely unhealthy for her hair. It's going to get very dry, and fried.

i think that once you get to high school its ok to dye your hair but not when you're only 13

What age do you think it's appropriate to start dying your hair?

Actually, believe it or not, dying your hair is VERY GOOD FOR IT.

Hair dye has many things in it that are extremely good for your hair. It is a misconception that hair dye damages your hair in any way.

Bleaching your hair, however, is another story.

It's extremely bad for your hair.

It will thin it, dry it, damage it, give you horrible split ends, and even make your hair fall out.

Trust me, I'm a very experienced hair dresser.

As for age, I don't think it matters. However, it's socially more acceptable to dye your hair in your teens than when your at a younger age.

see sweety every thing these days is chemical...so you find that e are more liable to get ill more than our parents..and grandparents..cause they took more natural product...13 years old and start to expose her self to that much of chemicals what she'll do when she get 23 or 33 or73...all these years will destroyed her hair and accumulate chemicals in her body if she get 73..o if she need to get new look she can do it but not that much..she must get equilibrium between here health and fantasy .. i hope she'll understand cause all teens get this problem
