Ppl who know there stuff about hair... ANSWER PLZ!?
Ok so theres this bleach kit at Hot Topic called Stellar i think? Anyway its in a black box and i swear that bleach kit is the best stuff i have ever used!! When i went to bleach my hair at a salon it took almost two hours to bleach my hair because its dark brown...but with that stuff it took like 30-45 minutes to bleach it. You can get up to platinum blonde with that stuff if you wanted to. Hope i helped and good luck!

Your best bet will to bleach your hair and then dye it. Your hair will become coarse so you need to condition it thoroughly.

hot tip: if you are really thinking about lightening your hair I really suggest you go to a salon and not do it yourself. I am a dark brunette myself and just whenever I want hi-lights they have the strip your hair and that takes a major toll on your hair its gonna leave it dry and brittle it might even leave a little bit of a burning sensation on your scalp. its good to do it at a salon because they can try to lighten it to your satisfaction where if you do it at home, you get what you get. Buy some deep nourishing conditioner after your professional stylist has done the job and im pretty sure they will recommend a product for you. but yea going from brunette to dark blonde takes alot of steps and I dont recommend doing that at home :] hope it comes out sexy!

It is doable and it can look good BUT - and this is serious - YOU MUST HAVE A PROFESSIONAL DO IT FOR YOU!!! I can't stress it enough because if you are planning to change more than two tones, it can go seriously wrong. I'm not trying to scare you but I've seen it go wrong many many many times - also with myself (as in: roots orange, ends yellowish). Find a professional that takes you to blonde gradually, primarily with highlights or with a base color of in the 8 group plus highlights, which should give you a rich golden hue.
If you are aiming for platinum, however, you can just use the bleach (ie Peroxide). However, it will not only fry your hair but YOUR SCALP. And you may go orange.
So please, have a professional do it. There is just too much that can go wrong. And remember the golden rule: it may be a colour you like OR you want to be BUT it may not be a colour you can afford to keep up.
Final warning: if you have dark brown, please note you will have to start doing your roots probably every 4 weeks otherwise you'll end up with a ghastly stripe / outgrowth.

DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR!!!!!!! It will totally fry it. It is the best way to get dark hair light, but if you do it, only get highlights. Trust me, I had a lady bleach my hair without my permission and I'm still suffering (it's been almost 3 years). My hair is dry, it won't grow like it used to, every time I get it colored it turns an orange/red color after a few weeks, and it is stiff and hard to style. Stick with your natural color and get some pretty caramel highlights... it isn't worth it to use bleach!

If I were you I'd go to the salon. It'll be more costly but come out healthier and more natural looking. Bleach usually gets hair the lightest but BE PREPARED for orangey hair if you do it at home. I dyed my dark hair blonde a few years ago and it came out orange. I had to re-dye it blonde a few days later and it finally came out to a color I liked but wasn't half as soft as my original hair was. I finally ended up going back to brown with the help of a stylist

Let me be frank, you should not be doing this yourself. Your hair will be dry and brittle and not near as healthy as your natural hair. People with dark hair tend to have a darker complection, and it can look strange for them to all of a sudden have light hair because they dont have light eyes and eyebrows that would normally go with it. IF you are still convinced that you want to make this change then seek professional help because it is IMPOSSIBLE TO DO ON YOUR OWN. Keep in mind that you will always have new growth coming in that will be darker than the rest of your hair and it will be alot of upkeep. Its costly and looks really bad if you do not stay on top of it. I do not recommend it at all. At all!

i dye my hair. i mean dying it from a dark drown to blonde will take some work, and it probably wont happen in one dye. your hair will feel dry and lifeless for a while so i would suggest conditioning it a lot after you get it done. although if you have thin hair dont use to much conditioner it will weigh down your hair. you could bleach your hair first if you wanted to get a blonde color faster. its basically all personal preference. DO NOT DYE YOUR HAIR AT HOME. if you really want to dye it don't do it at home. go to a salon and get it done. it will turn out much better if you dye it at a salon. to answer your question yes it can be done. it may dry out your hair though. i would suggest you use bed head dumb blonde shampoo and conditioner afterwards. it works great to revive your hair. if myou really want to learn more about it before you dye it, try going to your salon and asking your hair dresser about it. you can also try searching some information about it on google.
hope i helped :]
good luck and i hope your
hair turns out looking good ;]

okay, well bleaching your hair completely kills it so i dont suggest it at all, but any dying to your hair damages it.
you might need to go back to the salon or re-do your own hair a couple times if your hair is naturally dark because after a couple weeks your hair will darken down again and brown might show up again, i had blonde hair a couple months ago and i dyed it dark brown and since my hair was blonde before that it made it into a dirty blonde so i had to go back again to get a touch up, it takes a while but, if you go to a salon they are super good at trying to protect your hair and they might put a protectant in the hair dye before they apply it to your hair!
goodluck
